You’ve gone through the basement, the garafe, and kid’s closets and found many unwanted items still in good condition. So you carefully pack them up to take to the ‘Take it or Leave it’ program at the Edson Recycling Depot.
This is a commendable effort – as long as the depot is actually open.

Leaving donations outside the depot after hours where they can be destroyed by the weather or vandalized, turns what could have been useful donations, into rubbish.

It takes time to clean up what’s left outside the gates, and sort through what may or may not be re-usable items. This can take time and ultimately money away that could be more effectively spentĀ  to help support the program.
Over 20 tons of goods a month go through the ‘TakeĀ  it or Leave it’ program. They have hundreds of people a day picking up and dropping off items.

Depot Manager, Anne Auriat says that once someone leaves an item outside the gates it cause more people to do it too. “over time, this can build up into a major problem and could even force closure of the program,” she says.
The town has one of the best recycling programs in the province.

It’s something the community s very proud of. Leaving items outside the gates after hours can look unsightly and detract from the efforts being made to keep the facility neat and clean.

We have the opportunity and the responsibility to minimize our waste production in Edson and one of the best parts of that is donating items for others to use and enjoy.

Let’s show our appreciation for the hard work and effort of the staff and volunteers of the Recycling Centre by dropping off donations during regular hours.

‘Take it or Leave it’ is open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday noon to 4:30 pm and Thursday evening from 4 pm to 7 pm.
